Active Body understands that everyone is an individual, and something that works for one individual may be completely out of the question for another. So in saying that our staff make sure they take the time to get to know the patient and discuss what they want to get out of their training sessions.

Understandably you may have a goal in mind and just need the added drive from one of our Exercise Physiologists, however should you not have a long-term goal in mind but want to start taking those small steps towards a healthier lifestyle, Active Body can help!

During the first session our Exercise Physiologists will conduct a thorough initial assessment which involves the following:

  1. Identifying any abnormalities in the cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic or endocrine systems that may prevent physical activity
  2. Establishing specific/attainable fitness and lifestyle related goals
  3. Discussion of activity preferences and interests
  4. Physical examination of the following:
  • Blood pressure
  • Heart rate (resting and exercise induced)
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Height and weight measures
  • Body fat percentage (using body fat calipers)
  • Waist to hip ratio
  • Flexibility
  • Cardiovascular fitness

Subsequent exercise training sessions will comprise of the following:

  1. Each session will be at least one hour in duration
  2. Each session is tailored to the individual's needs, whether it be in the area of-
  • Weight loss
  • Injury rehabilitation
  • Strength and toning
  • Cardiovascular endurance
  • Sport specific strength and conditioning
  • Core stability training and education

We pride ourselves on staying current with the most recent training and conditioning techniques, and trust that you will benefit substantially from our qualified Exercise Physiologists. Sessions are run in a fun and non-confronting atmosphere that is conducive to improving your health and lifestyle. Additionally, those patients that require consultation with a dietitian or nutritionist we can put you in touch with these services.
